Warrior lacrosse has tasted success numerous times this season through earning the title of co-champion of the division, shared with West York, making it to the county finals and finishing their season in districts.

15 seniors have led the team through their series of victories. During the season, the warriors only suffered two losses against Red Lion and Cumberland Valley, both among top ten rankings of the district.

Senior mid-fielder Josh Attig believes the games leading up to postseason were some of the team’s best.

“We had a good season. I’m upset that we lost counties….we have Manheim Township potentially Thursday[May 14], which is going to be a very difficult game…the season went well. We are co-champions of the division,” said Attig.

They conquered their well-matched competition West York 16-6 during the season, but fell short when they faced them again in the county championship. The road to the championship was not easy either. The boys beat Dallastown in semis 8-7. The Warriors hosted the Wildcats for the county title on Thursday, May 7 but lost 16-7.

The loss lingers with senior face off Zach Orner.

“We started off pretty good, and then it got disappointing…we got blown out in the championship to a team that we blew out earlier in the year,” said Orner.

The Warriors stayed home for the first round of districts Tuesday, May 12 against Warwick. Winning this game would have meant the team would face Manheim Township, ranked fifth in regional rankings according to Laxpower.com. Warwick, however, stopped the Warriors from continuing their run in districts.

The season ended with a 5 to 7 loss Tuesday, May 12.

Coach Russ Leblanc feels grateful for the players he coached this season.

“Although it was very disappointing to lose the YAIAA championship game and then the first round of districts, we still need to recognize and celebrate that we were division champions,” said Leblanc. “This was a special team with many talented players and great personalities. I will miss the seniors but I feel fortunate for the season I had to spend with them.”
