The 2015 softball team is looking forward to its upcoming season, beginning with their home game quickly approaching on March 14.

All of the players are eagerly awaiting the season to begin.

Freshman Kari Cox, looking forward to the season, is making efforts to make the softball team and has been playing her favorite sport for about 9 years.

“[I am looking forward to] pitching for my school softball team,” said Cox. “I have been going to pitching lessons and practicing a lot to make me a better player.”

Altogether, Cox thinks the softball team will have a successful season.

“Girls on both [JV and varsity] are really good softball players,” said Cox. “I think we will have a successful season.”

Another member of the softball team, junior Ally Kerr, has been playing softball since she was four years old. Kerr has played in many positions on the field which should be able to benefit the team in many ways. Kerr is looking forward to multiple challenges this season.

“[I am looking forward] to winning a lot…and going to districts, counties, and states,” said Kerr.

Kerr is even thinking about college softball.

“[I plan on getting out of this experience] a lot of leadership roles out of [the team] and to fulfill my dream of playing in college,” said Kerr.

Lastly, junior Julia DeLuca has been a passionate softball player since the second and third grade and has also held many positions on the team. Even with DeLuca’s skills for many different positions in softball, there is something that the team is going to try and change this year.

“We are going to focus more on our hitting,” DeLuca said. “…last year we did hit well, but we should have hit better.”

As a team, DeLuca says that she believes that it will be a very positive year with all of them being friends and supporting each other.

“I think [the season as a team] will go really, really well,” said DeLuca. “In the past years, we’ve had a little team tension…but this year…I don’t think our team can get any closer than it already is. I think that we’re going to work really, really well together.

DeLuca aims to go to districts and post season by giving her best effort.

“I love all the team bonding we do…Last year, we were able to make it into post season, and this year, we are hoping to go even further,” said DeLuca. “I think with hard work and dedication, we can do that.”

While the season gets closer, the members of the team work harder and harder each day to fulfill and meet their goals.
