App of the Week-Crossy Roads

If you have ever played the ’80s game Frogger, you will understand the concept for the popular game Crossy Roads.

You start out as a chicken who needs to cross the road.  With each tap on your smartphone, the chicken moves forward onto the road as rush hour traffic tries to hit it.  The concept of the game is simple: see how long you can last while constantly moving forward across the streets.

This app has immensely grown around school at a quick rate as the game is consistently downloaded on students’ smart phones.

Senior Noah O’Brien loved playing Crossy Roads to pass his free time.

“It was addicting,” said O’Brien. “Because you could never put it down, you always had to try and beat your high score, and the colors are pretty.”

O’Brien says he would play against his friends in class.

“I would play my friends; we would compete for a better score,” said O’Brien.

O’Brien would play with senior Andrew Sweigard who is a known video game enthusiast.

Sweigard has an incredible high score of 1,028 -a ridiculous score for any player.  Sweigard says he was introduced to the game from watching everyone else play it.

“It’s a fun game,” said Sweigard.  “[Because] it is very entertaining and at the same time a very simple game to understand, and I suggest other students download it.”

The game is available on the apple app store for iphone users and is on Google Play store for android users. The game is free for anyone to download with a smartphone, and it is worth the extra app slot on your home screen.
